National Stroke Awareness


FAST is the acronym that has been accepted as a quick-identifying characteristics of a stroke onset.  If you experience these conditions call 911.

Therapy is important after experiencing a stroke for optimal recovery.  Your family needs hard facts concerning the level of care you will require prior to transitioning home.  Education throughout the recovery process is key to regaining the highest level of functional performance.

  • FFace / Does the face droop on one side when the person smiles?
  • AArm / After raising both arms, does one of the arms drift downwards?
  • SSpeech /After repeating a simple phrase, does the persons speech sound slurred or strange?
  • TTime / If any or all of the above are observed call for 9-1-1 and ask for medical assistance.  Inform them of your symptoms and request assistance.
